Pesticide Safety Ecosystem

This initiative was developed for the Community Health Worker Coalition for Migrant and Refugee Health (CHWCMR), a Seattle-based non-profit, with funding and research support from the University of Washington. The core mission was to deliver a family-centric digital tool designed to prevent pesticide poisoning within at-risk agricultural communities. The project required a highly specialized approach to reach multicultural, often low-literacy or offline-first populations with life-saving health literacy.

Tools

Modern Tech Stack & Deliverables ・ Custom React Native framework for cross-platform iOS/Android performance, bypassing traditional LMS constraints ・ Architecture and design in Figma and Affinity Suite, featuring a custom anonymous gamification engine ・ Bilingual (EN/ES), offline-ready content system optimized for mobile-first accessibility.

The Strategic Methodology

The project utilized a UX-led design framework to translate complex health protocols into a family-centered learning experience.

  • Risk-Reduced Prototyping: Before the global store launch, we led intensive rapid validation phases using clickable prototypes to test engagement and usability with multicultural stakeholders. This ensured the final product met the specific linguistic and cultural needs of migrant communities, preventing expensive technical rework during development.
  • Operational Rigor: As a sophisticated cross-platform launch, the project required strict adherence to digital governance and ethical standards. The architecture was built to maintain high data privacy; the system collected no personally identifiable information (PII), allowing users to engage with a custom anonymous gamification engine to drive motivation without compromising security.

The Result

By bridging specific learning gaps through direct community consultation, the architecture transformed complex safety protocols into a high-utility toolkit for health workers. The final ecosystem moved beyond simple knowledge delivery to drive measurable increases in family participation and service efficacy across marginalized communities.
